Dec 10th - Dec 16th

December 10th, 1963:  The Nobel prize for literature is awarded to the Greek poet G. Seferis.

December 12th, 1803:  The destruction of St. Paraskevi of Souli to avoid its' capture by the Ottoman Turks by the monk Samuel.  

December 13th, 1797:  The great poet Rigas Feraios is arrested in Tergesti by the Austrian police.  On the same day in history in 1943 "The period of Katoxi" the Nazi forces murder all the men of Calabrata a total of 1101 persons.

December 16th 1828: The first courts of modern Greece are established by Ioannes Capodistrias.
